"The corrugated paper packaging industry on a growth trajectory for 2025"

Athens, April 27, 2026. HPPA announces the aggregate data on the production and distribution of corrugated paper packaging for 2025, which reflect the overall course of the sector in the Greek market and confirm its positive dynamics.
In 2025, total production amounted to 752.9 million m² of corrugated board and 370.9 thousand tons, recording an increase of +2.97% in surface area and +4.30% in volume compared to 2024. The data point to mild but stable growth, with stronger growth in terms of weight, which is linked to changes in product mix and market demands.
This development reflects the resilience of the sector, despite fluctuations in costs and demand, as well as the strengthening of activity in key sectors such as food, retail and supply chain. At the same time, the continued growth of e-commerce continues to support demand for corrugated packaging, while the A greater increase in tonnes in relation to square metres indicates a shift towards more reinforced or demanding packaging.
In a broader context, the corrugated board industry remains a key supporter of manufacturing and commercial activity, serving critical sectors of the economy, aligning with European trends for sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions.
According to FEFCO, the corrugated paper packaging industry is a pillar of the European economy, actively promoting the circular economy and recycling. In Greece, the sector contributes substantially to domestic industrial production, strengthens the supply chain and supports the transition to more sustainable growth models.
Overall, 2025 is characterized by mild growth, with positive prospects for the coming years, as the sector continues to be a strategic link in the Greek economy.

HPPA represents more than 80% of the Greek corrugated and paper packaging industry, covering most of the domestic production. Its members are active in the entire range of the production chain, from the processing of raw materials to the final processing, contributing decisively to the country's industrial activity.
