The Structure of
Corrugated Board
Corrugated board consists of flat paper sheets (linerboard) and one or more corrugated paper layers (medium), which are bonded together using natural starch adhesive (starch).
The combination of different paper grades and flute profiles creates packaging solutions with varying levels of strength and performance, tailored to the requirements of each application
Linerboard
The flat outer paper sheets that provide the packaging with a smooth surface, rigidity and mechanical strength.
Medium
The corrugated paper layer that absorbs shocks and enhances the packaging's compression strength and durability.
Starch (Αμυλόκολλα)
A natural adhesive, typically made from corn starch, that bonds the flat paper sheets to the corrugated medium.
Linerboard

The Main Types of
Corrugated Board
Single face board
One flat linerboard sheet with one corrugated medium.
Single wall board
Two flat linerboard sheets with one corrugated medium (3-ply board).
Double wall board
Three flat linerboard sheets with two corrugated mediums (5-ply board).
Triple wall board
Four flat linerboard sheets with three corrugated mediums (7-ply board).
How It Is Manufactured
Paper
